Who We Are

Manos Solidarias is a United States-based foundation dedicated to creating a positive impact in Ecuador by providing homes to families in need. This compassionate initiative aims to improve lives by offering safe and secure housing, ensuring that vulnerable communities have a place to call home. Through their efforts, Manos Solidarias brings hope,
stability, and the promise of a brighter future to those who need it most.

Founders

Founders were born in Guayaquil-Ecuador. They are familiar with the extreme poverty and the reality of their city and surroundings. They have spent years with groups of volunteers raising money independently to finance all the work being done there.

Silvia Kaunas

Ms. Kaunas is a Clinical psychologist in Ecuador, and mental health provider in New York City, New Jersey and Florida. She practices in Long Island New York. Aware of the needs in her hometown, she decided to put all her efforts into spreading among her friends what she does, to help those most in need in the peripheral areas of the city of guayaquil and nearby rural areas seeking funds from individuals and companies to achieve it.

Maria Mercedes Ceprian

Ms. Ceprian is a Lawyer. She works at the Law School at the Catholic University of Guayaquil. She holds a degree in Social and Political Sciences of the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil. For more than 20 years, she has dedicated her time raising money and donations of all kinds from altruistic people who selflessly contribute to these ends.

Jose Mosquera

Mr. Mosquera works in his law firm Mosquera & Associates. He is aware of the needs of the most vulnerable in Guayaquil and its surrounding areas. He decided to support this work and over the years has been actively involved in the necessary financing to achieve it.

Ximena Granja-Burton

Ximena is a native of Guayaquil, Ecuador where she was born and raised. She has been involved with the foundation since 2020 through Maria Mercedes Ceprian, founder. In 2023, Ximena accepted to be part of the board of directors in order to increase awareness about the foundation and to raise more funds to make a bigger and positive impact on the families and children of Guayaquil and nearby towns.

Through the Foundation we want to obtain more resources and in this way make it possible for more people to transform their lives and achieve their goals.

I am grateful for the support I received, I feel much calmer now. After our house we had fell apart, we had to stay at the neighbor’s house, that was embarrassing for us, the space was not ours and the anguish of not having the resources to be able to build our own home. Thanks to the support of Attorney Ceprian, Silvia Kaunas, and the volunteers, we now have a roof over our heads, an a decent home where my daughters can be in their own space.

Manos Solidarias helped us a lot .Apart from the house, other blessings also arrived, such as the table, a closet and other things that the volunteers brought us the day the house was assembled, now there is one less concern and I feel very grateful because my daughters are the ones who can enjoy our home the most , we have been able to stabilize ourselves economically, now we are making adjustments in the front part little by little because we want to start a business.

If there is a word to describe María Mercedes Ceprian, She is the MOTOR. Thanks to her I have been helping those most in need for more than 13 years. She is really an motive for our lives, always organized, disciplined, fair, collecting clothes, doing flea markets, putting together baskets and without laziness to help others, she goes wherever when someone wants to give her or donate something. She has given a home to so many people by building houses for the people at Hogar de Cristo. I can only say ,thanks to her I am a better person
